Dear praying friends,
Riots are breaking out in Sri Lanka. An all Island curfew was declared earlier this week. First it was Easter Sunday bombing, then ethnic riots broke out between Sinhala mobs and Muslim people. Muslims are cowering for help and protection. Now it has turned out to be political unrest-probably opposition parties taking advantage of the situation to create confusion to destabilize the government. Muslim Shops and homes are being vandalized and set ablaze. Physical harm and casualties are quite possible. The government is asking churches and mosques to avoid holding services. Fear and confusion is spreading around all peoples nationwide. Christians and Muslims are living under threats everyday. Please alert people to pray for Sri Lanka.
There have been violent incidents in Chilaw and Kuliapitiya. A nationwide curfew has been imposed. Things are not good among communities and a great fear is hovering the nation. (1) Pray that peace and calm will be restored to the region. (2) Pray for government officials and law enforcement to have wisdom to prevent any further agitation or religious animosity among the island’s multifaith population. (3) Pray for the Church to be united in tragedy, and that such unity will be a witness to the nation of Sri Lanka.
Pray, “Prince of Peace, reign over Sri Lanka. Let fear, terrorism and violence be overthrown. Your kingdom come with justice, righteousness, salvation, healing and restoration over the nation. Jesus be enthroned and lifted up. Amen.”
