What we believe
Our beliefs in a nutshell: It's all about Jesus. He is the right answer. There have been more songs written about Him and more books written about Him than anyone else in this world. Why? Because He is real. When the Church works to demonstrate the characteristics of Jesus, it too will become tangible and life-changing.
Belong
We belong because of Jesus. Humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, yet we willfully rejected His Lordship and the glory of God for which we were intended. Because of this, sickness, death and judgment entered this world and now creation experiences the effects and consequences of sin.
Jesus Christ, the one true Son of God, entered this world, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. He is God's Anointed One, empowered by the Holy Spirit to usher in God's Kingdom on earth. He was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected and ascended into heaven, and is now alive today in the presence of God the Father and in His people. He is "true God" and "true man".
It is because of this sacrifice, the work of Jesus Christ, that we can belong to the Kingdom of God, enjoying heaven, here now on earth.
Believe
We can believe because of Jesus. It is the kindness and love of Jesus Christ that leads us to believe. We are saved by God's grace, through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through
(1) repenting, which simply means to turn (2) believing, putting your trust in the love and kindness of our heavenly Father, demonstrated by Jesus; and (3) receiving Jesus as your Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the Kingdom of God as His sons and daughters.
And it doesn't stop there. As we continue to read our Bible, listen to sermons, and join small groups, we learn more about the person and character of Jesus, growing our understanding and belief. As we learn more about Jesus, He solidifies what we believe , not only about Him, but about ourselves, and where we fit in.
Become
We become who we were designed to be because of Jesus. The victorious and redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross provides us freedom and power to overcome sin (which simply means "missing the mark") and its results: sickness, torment, judgment and spiritual death. That same work on the cross also restores our right, given to us by our heavenly Father, to enjoy Him fully. To help us God gave us a partner, His Holy Spirit.
We are enabled to live holy and minister supernaturally by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 1:4-8 and 2:4 is poured out on believers that they might have power to be witnesses. In this we become a person of significance and purpose, the person we were created to be.
The Church consists of people who have put their faith in Jesus Christ. The Church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further advance His Kingdom by undoing the works of the enemy, preaching and living the good news of God's live, making disciples of the nations, baptizing and teaching them to love and obey God.
A few more points
We believe there is only one true God who is the Eternal King, Creator and Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving and truthful. He has revealed Himself to be eternally self-existent -- one Being, three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God.
We believe in the reign of Jesus Christ and the hope we all hold onto. Jesus Christ, in victory, will come for His Church. Heaven and hell are real places. There will be a resurrection of the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting death.
